Our unchanging focus is to help the neediest of our area, by providing shelter to the homeless and food to the hungry.
The Valley Mission began its work in September 1971 as the vision of Howard Alexander to care for the homeless and hungry in the Staunton area. Since the years of his direction, the Mission has grown and expanded its services, moved to a newer facility, and added staff and programming. Always mindful of our history and mission, today's Board of Directors and Mission Staff are carrying on the good work.
The anchor of our work is a belief in the power of faith to heal and restore lives. Maintaining this focus has guided the Board and Staff to develop policies of inclusiveness with geniune support and guidance free of judgements of past life experiences.
