Meals are served every day of the year, to shelter residents and members of our community in need. All meals are free. In the year 2010, the Mission served 45,105 meals, an increase of 29% over 2009.

Volunteers and shelter residents frequently assist Norman and Lana in the preparation and serving of meals.

Lana Stokes and Norman Struther are Mission staff members responsible for meal preparation and serving during the week. The dining hall is spacious and attractive. In 2010, new tables and comfortable seating were purchased.

Home Depot sketched and began the painting of this large wall mural in the dining hall. The mural was completed by a talented artist who was a shelter resident at the time. Individuals and groups from our local community frequently volunteer to prepare and serve weekend meals.

Volunteeers from Home Depot painted the dining hall during 2010, bringing fresh and bright colors. After completion of painting, new chairs and tables were purchased. Volunteers make it happen! A student from Mary Baldwin College helps manage the food stores for the meal service. Almost all of the food used in the dining hall is donated by individuals, groups and companies in our community.
