Valley Mission "Adopt-A-Room" Project Featured on NBC29 News
On August 19, NBC29 News ran a story about a project currently underway at Valley Mission. Since March, various volunteers, both groups and individuals, have been helping to make the shelter more "homey" for it's residents. Working with Valley Mission staff, these volunteers have been painting and decorating the dormitory area, one room at a time. The results are attractive and inviting rooms, a wonderful improvement over the formerly stark environment. The volunteers that have helped so far include Staunton Augusta Junior Women's Club, Frank & Patti Fenneran & Family, The Missionaries through Oak Grove Baptist Church, Community Fellowship Church, Staunton Alliance Church, Waynesboro First Presbyterian Youth and Nancy Love. Volunteers have begun the work on the women and family rooms, and will be moving onto the bathrooms and laundry room. We are now seeking more volunteers that would like to join in a coordinated effort to decorate the men's dormitory, which is essentially one very large open room.
