In addition to financial contributions, each year thousands of volunteers work onsite at our shelter and our two thrift stores, providing services on both the agency and client level to ensure smooth operation of our programming.  The opportunities for volunteerism are endless.  From working one on one with a client who needs help with a job application to serving as a member of our Board of Directors, the time and talents of our local community members and business leaders are greatly appreciated.

Are you looking for a way to give back, stay busy, or get involved in your community? Valley Mission offers a variety of meaningful volunteer opportunities that make a real impact on the lives of those in need. Whether you’re passionate about helping others or need to fulfill community service hours, we’d love to have you join our team!
Here are some of the ways you can volunteer with us:
  • In the Kitchen: Help prepare and serve meals to our residents and guests. Your efforts will provide nourishment and hope to those facing tough times.
  • Meal Sign-Up: Gather your friends, family, church group, or coworkers and sign up to prepare, cook, and serve a meal! We feed an average of 100-115 people at each meal, and it’s a wonderful way to share your cooking skills while giving back to the community. Meal times are:
    • Monday through Friday: 12 PM (lunch) and 4:45 PM (dinner)
    • Saturday and Sunday: 9:30 AM (brunch) and 4 PM (dinner)
Whether you cook in our kitchen, your own kitchen, or even cater or deliver a meal, every contribution helps offset our budget and provides a fresh, nourishing meal for those in need.
  • Sorting and Organizing Donations: Assist in sorting through donated items to ensure they’re ready for use or sale. Your attention to detail helps us maximize the impact of every donation.
  • Manual Labor on the Box Truck: Join our team in picking up donations from the community. It’s a hands-on way to make a big difference!
  • Thrift Store Support: Help out in one of our two thrift stores by cleaning, organizing, and putting donations out on the sales floor. Every sale supports our mission to serve the homeless and those in need.
